I'm trying not to breaking one of my hard and fast rules - do not talk politics or religion. But for the love of all things holy, I cannot not comment on the total shit show of last nights presidential debate.
America, we're screwed!
I want the chance to write in a candidate. I think anyone would be a better option than the two we have right now. UGGGHHHH!
I'm soooooo tired of the bickering . right vs. left. I'm tired of the media, I'm tired of black lives matter (ALL LIVES MATTER, shit heads!), cop kiilings, riots and the disrespect and downright hatred of the flag, of our Country!
I'm scared for everyone concerned.
I feel the anger, the despair, the lack of consideration and respect - not only for the country -but for humanity.
I heard Savanna Guthrie , NBC Today Show, say that Social Media was the cesspool of society." I couldn't have said it better myself. It's utterly disgusting how people have become keyboard warriors, saying cruel and hateful words that they would never ever have the guts to say to a person face to face.
Yet, they do. But when they become the victims of the same in return, how quickly they cry foul.
I do not buy in to it. I refuse. A long-time friend of mine of 36 years texted me last night during the debate. I hear from him probably 3 times a year. I was so happy to hear from him until he proceeded to talk about the debate and starts to debate me on my opinions when he opened the door asking me how I felt.
This is the exact text I sent him: "I am done talking politics because I value our friendship. Have a good night. We'll talk another night when I'm not so angry".
I believe I took the high road and perhaps saved a long standing friendship that I treasure.
My mother and father always said that if you truly believe in something, then there will always be a solution to any problem that presents itself.
I wish I could believe in that statement and wisdom.

Sherry, I among many others, share your feelings, regardless whether we be U.S. citizens or live elsewhere.
About 5 years ago we suffered through a similar time, with a populous Mayor Rob Ford. Toronto then became an international laughing stock. Hell, he even was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel, if that tells you anything. See a description of those times here -

These days of course the stakes are much greater. Rather than a mayor, you are faced with a populous president, who isn't playing with a full deck.
Eventually things improved for us after Mayor Ford passed away. He had his good points but more so his bad points and Toronto had been impacted by him.
All I can say is, like in our past, this dark time too shall pass for you guys especially in the States. So try not to be discouraged.
I'm trying Rob, I really am. But I'll go on record, if the POTUS gets re-elected, all hell is gonna break out...and I'll be looking for real-estate in Canada!
I figure that this November is going to be a zoo no matter what happens. It'll be well past Nov. 3 before the final election results will be recognized and accepted, due to the mail-in votes. Trump knows that if he loses that his next home will eventually be in jail. New Covid cases are on the rise everywhere due to winter coming. I figure even if a vaccine is found that it'll be many months (or more) before things will be anywhere near normal health-wise. And I won't even go into how the world economy will look by then. And that's all assuming that there are no other unknown "surprises". Depressing, aren't I. :-(
Not Depressing, but perhaps a realist. I have a very good friend that says "Sherry, you look for the good in everything and everyone - rose colored glasse; I'm here to be the realist and tell you to wear a different pair glasses." LOL This will be interesting to be sure! I think I need to order more wine. ;)
Order more wine? Definitely. I'll drink to that.
Speaking of wine, we just recently bottled our winter supply (30 red, 30 white). I'll definitely need some of that (poured into my rose-colored glass) as the news keeps changing daily :-)
