I made it through Monday! (Does happy dance here!).
I am typically alright with going to work on Mondays, but it seems that the longer the winter drags on, the less enthused I am about getting back in to the grind of another work week. I love my job, don't get me wrong...it's just that sometimes the people wear a little bit on my nerves. The COS said, "remember, thick skin." To which I promptly replied, "Give me a break! It's Monday....I'll develop thick skin tomorrow!" He wasn't amused. For that matter, neither was I. (shrugs)
At least the sun is shining and it was a toasty 45 today! Rock on! I have spring fever sooooo bad right now. It is in sight! IF we can manage to escape any snowstorms or rainstorms in the next three weeks, I think we'll be home free! I am choosing to ignore the peeps that say that there is another major storm headed our direction. I want to know how the bleepin heck they can predict where it's going to land when it is still out in the ocean?? Nope...I'm stickin to my guns...Spring is Here!
Some interesting news - and a dilemma for one of my nieces. NDSU is playing KU on Friday. My niece Karen received her Masters from KU. Karen, Joan, AND Matt graduated from NDSU. Hmmmmm. ~L~ I texted Karen (yes! I KNOW HOW TO TEXT! Sheeeesh!) last night to see who she was going to cheer for. She replied, "me and Mom are going to cheer for KU, Joan and Matt are going for NDSU. You can cheer 1/2 and 1/2." Absolutely! GO ND/KU!! I spoke with Peg today and she said that she was taking Friday off to watch the game. I KNOW better than to call her, stop over, or even attempt to interrupt her during a KU game - let alone one that has KU and ND playing each other. Nope, I'm sitting this one out and will check the score from the safety of my work cubicle! :-)
Roads are pretty crappy around here. I'm perpetually locked in to 4-wheel drive. That's okay though. I'll take mud over snowstorms any day! T isn't so happy though. We start the calving season in a few weeks and we have nowhere for the little guys to land. He's spent the last three days shoveling out two of our calving pastures hoping that they'll be dry enough for the mothers to drop their calves on dry ground rather than in a slop hole. You always have to worry about pneumonia, scours, etc. when it's this wet and damp outside. Every year it gets tougher and tougher.
My brother is in Germany for two weeks. Before he left he sent me pictures of where he lives with the caption "this snow + heat= flood." Yikes. I woke up this morning to the news that this area was in a flood alert. I told him to tell my sister-in-law that if she needs me for sandbagging, to call me asap!
Well, no other news....I made it through a Monday. Life is good! ~L~
Catch up with you all later on.

Hey Blizzard Fans!
What a day, eh?? I tell you what, if you weren't holding on to your hat today, most likely it was in MN by now!
I'm sitting here typing this while at my sister's house. She is a gracious host and has pretty much been letting me stay rent free all winter long. Of course, I DO give her a ride to work so that she doesn't have to get her car out of the garage and fight the ugly streets. Everything navigates better in a 4-wheel drive - except my wonderful country roads, of course.
Tonight I picked up my nephew Blaine and brought him over to Peggy's as well. He is a joy to be around and - in fact - is watching me type this! (Say "HI" Blaine!)
We had a wonderful supper of roast pork, smashed potatoes, creamed cabbage, corn, and these scrumptious rice krispie bars covered in chocolate. We all pretty much decided that any food consumed during a blizzard doesn't have any calories! Yeah! Hey! We got to find SOMETHING good about this damn blizzard.
I'm relatively sure that I won't be getting home until Friday night or Saturday morning. Poor Thomas is stuck over at the other farm with the cattle again. I spoke with him earlier and he sounds positively defeated. I can't imagine what he goes through during the day to take care of the cattle on a good day, let alone in a Blizzard.
I am asking Blaine what else I should write about in my blog tonight. We've been taking trips down memory lane all night long. He reminded me of the time that he couldn't be found anywhere on the farm! He scared the bejeebers out of everyone. But alas, we found him sitting in the middle of the strawberry patch with his diapers, eating strawberries (and dirt) just being a happy little camper! Spoiled rotten little chit! (HAHAHA)
Peggy and I were remembering our childhoods and how differently we grew up. Me, being the youngest of 6 kids, had a different childhood growing up than she did - as the middle child. We've determined that we were raised in two different families within the family. All good, just different memories for each of us.
Terry emailed me this morning - he was stuck at home on a regular snow day! He started out the email by saying, "Hey Sherry, I'm remembering the good ole days when we would get stormed in at home and bake bread - then come up to Mom and Dad's and spend time there. Wouldn't you know it, we get a snow day, and there is no bread to bake!" Those WERE the good ole days and definitely brings a smile to my face. BUT, I'm making new memories here with Peggy and Blaine - two of my favorite people in the whole world! And, Peggy and I have done good, we haven't hit the sauce too much! Of course, the week isn't over yet.
I'm going to take Blaine and Peggy to their work places tomorrow morning. I'm hoping that the weather will subside overnight and that the roads won't give me too much trouble. Blaine's good friend Bruce will give him a ride home at 5:00pm, so I will be able to do my worksite yoga if anyone shows up. Blaine, bless his heart, brought a pizza for us for supper tomorrow night. We already have supper locked in for tomorrow night! Yeah! The real bonus though, is that we get to spend more time with our guy, Blaine! Blaine is wearing some of his special olympics gear from Idaho tonight. He looks pretty sharp.
I don't have much else to say, so I guess that I'll end this blog entry in to the blogosphere with this one little snipit of wit...

Stuff....
Everywhere I look...stuff, stuff, STUFF!!!!! Argggggggghhhhhhhh! How did I manage to accumulate so much stuff?! Those who know me, know that my house isn't huge. So, what stuff I DO have looks like clutter! I'm going on record here and saying I hate clutter - which translates to "I have TOO MUCH STUFF!" ~L~
I have found this lovely channel called HGTV. LOVE IT /(HATE IT!!!) "Why" you ask? Cuz, it makes me woefully aware of how NOT perfect my house is! I watch them transform these ordinary looking rooms/houses (you know the ones, the ones that look like MINE!) and I get to thinking, I can do that to make "this look better" or "that would look great in my house". THEN I stress because, "when am I going to do THAT to make THIS look better?" or "yeah right, suzy-craftsman I am not!" ~L~
THEN, to top it all off....when I DO try and get rid of my "stuff", hubster brings it back in to the house cuz "we might need it some day." Hellllllloooooooooo! He hasn't touched it in 6 years, what makes him think he'll touch it again after another 6?? Sheeeesh! ~LOL~
Can you tell it is a Saturday and I'm cleaning??!! ~L~ I'd rather be curled up on the couch with a good book or doing yoga to destress (cuz of my stuff!), but nope! Here I am, blogging about how frustrated I am about all of my stuff, when I should be out there (points to living room) getting RID of my stuff! ~L~
In the words of our friend Dan, "and have a nice day!"

It has been a while....
Too long, in fact. I have been quite busy with my yoga classes - which is a good thing. I've picked up a 3rd class teaching yoga to the local college soccer teams (mens & womens). The coach stated that he wanted an athletic type of class which focused on flexibility and balance and was I "up for it?" Well.....duh! Yoga is a passion of mine, and how could I not want to share it with a bunch of 20 somethings. Unfortunately, the class would be on Thursdays after my regular basics and happy hour classes. I was up for it, but was my body? That was the question. I must say, I handled the 1st class well and earned a thumbs-up from the coach. I believe the students were a bit taken aback also - perhaps not expecting the type of class format that I teach. That is all good though - I like to keep them guessing.
Winter weather is a sore subject with me. I was stormed in to town yet again this last Thursday. I called my sister Peg to see if room 402 at the Inn was available! She said that 402 was taken (frequent guest Kathy was also staying) but 204 was open! Sold! We had a good time as always with our little winter storm slumber parties! I think Kathy and I are going to have to try these slumber parties at Peg's house in the middle of summer sometime. Surely there will be a fierce thunderstorm that we don't want to drive home in, right??!!!
I'm still not feeling up to par with my cold. I have "zero" energy still and really didn't do a whole lot this weekend other than the basic, laundry, cleaning, etc. I'm hoping that things will be on the upswing this week, but I must learn to take a que from the Pearls of Wisdom (posted on the yoga blog) ....and take care of myself.
For those who are unaware, my nephew Blaine returned home from Idaho with 2 Silver medals and 1 bronze. He did spectacular. My brother stated that the coaches nicknamed him Rocketman as he kept improving on all of his times. The 400x4 he ran was a spectacular race. His team was in last place when Blaine received the handoff - he took them to silver! Keep in mind, this is running on 2 feet of compacted snow, in snowshoes. His last race was the 400. He ran it in 1 minute, 24 seconds (4 seconds better than his qualifying time!). He received bronze for his efforts - which is still quite fantastic. I am so proud of that young man! He was even honored at 1/2 time of the mens basketball game. It was so heartwarming to hear the announcer speak of Blaine's accomplishments in Idaho - as well as mentioning that he's the 1st Athlete in the Special Olympics Hall of Fame (ND) and Special Olympics Athlete of the Year and Man of the Year. But hey, I'm not biased or anything! ~L~ I've often said, he's as close to having a son as I'll ever get, and I couldn't ask for a better son than Blaine.

He has every reason to be proud of himself!
Well, it is getting late and I need my beauty sleep if I'm going to be bright and chipper for work this week.
