I worked remotely, which hasn't happened since May, 2024. It was wonderful! I'd forgotten how much more work can get done without all of the constant interruptions. I miss that!
I was home today in preparation of a medical procedure tomorrow. I dislike going under anesthesia any more than is necessary, but sometimes it is warranted.
This will be a short week for me. I'll be in the office Wednesday and Thursday, with Friday being my 1/2 day. I do so enjoy my 1/2 Fridays!
The Fair is in town this week. I'm a big kid at heart when it comes to the Fair. I don't think I've missed attending very few years. This year will be no exception. I'm not sure if Thomas will go, but I'm pretty sure that Blaine will want to go. He's my constant side-kick these days. We have been going to the races at the Speedway every Saturday night. It's become quite the ritual. I pick him up at 6, we get there and find our spots (Turn 1), then watch the spectators arrive, check out the race lineups and wait for the fun to start. And the food....we can't forget about the food! 😉😉
I don't have children of my own. I believe that, because of that, I've developed such a strong bond with Blaine. We've always been close, but even more so now,
I always wonder how he can continue to laugh and smile when he's had to survive so many criticisms and discriminations because of his disability. He's not one to share his inner most thoughts; he's a tough nut to crack. But, on the rare occasion when he does, it rips my heart out. Life isn't fair, I know that. But I wish that he, and others like him, would be treated more fairly than they are.
I'll continue to be his biggest fan and advocate. I've told him to call me any time of the day or night, no matter what. He usually does LOL. If only to tell me he had that 'canned meat" (SPAM) for supper. It's his favorite joke to sneak in on me!
