Sign of Disrespect

Those of you know me well, know that I like to be on time, preferably early whenever possible.  I make no secret of that. I consider it to be "stealing" time from the other person when I am late for a meeting, event, etc.  In my mind, it shows the other people, "You are unimportant to me" or "My time is worth more than yours."  It, to me, is a sign of disrespect. I work with an individual who is a very type A person.  It's all about her/him..  Most times I can handle them because I know what they're about.  But today got to me. This person scheduled an appointment/meeting at a set time with another individual.  Type A person was notified three ...count it...THREE... times that their meeting individual had arrived.  First it was "I'm on my way," followed by, "I'll be there in 5 minutes," ending with, "Ask if I can reschedule."  By this time it's 25 minutes past the scheduled/arranged meeting tim...

Admitting it is Half the Battle.

I hate to admit it, but yes, I have an addiction.  No, it's not to food, exercise, yoga, books, music or gum. I, Sherry L. Schutt have an addiction to....Spartacus, the HBO Series. I've seen every single episode of every single season.  I loved Anthony Whitfield in the role as Spartacus in season one.  I mourned when he lost his battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.  I felt cheated with each cliff hanger that ensued at the close of a season.   And I sat on the edge of my seat with each fight scene in the area.  The blood, the gore, the beheadings that took place set my heart to racing. I won't even get in to the sex scenes.  The heat in the ménage a trois between Lacretia, Batiatus, and Gaia was positively steamy!(2011 Gods of the Arena). I was thrilled beyond words when the final season premiered on Friday Night.  Spartacus: War of the Damned did not disappoint.   I had my popcorn popped, my wine (bottle...

Blaine's Olympic Journey

So, you're all probably really tired of me talking about my nephew Blaine.  Too bad...he's a very important part of my life and I'll never stop talking about someone I love so much. Yesterday the Face Book page I started on Christmas reached a pinochle and hit over 1000 likes by 10:30 pm.  A HUGE thing was that fact that North Dakota native and Hollywood A-list Actor, Josh Duhmel, posted on the Blaine's Olympic Journey Face Book page.  (I had gone to Josh's Face Book page and asked him if he would give Blaine a shout out cuz Blaine - ok, me too! - is a fan).  And he did it last night!  Blaine's page took off after that!  It was sitting at 860 likes around 5pm...and it hit 1000 by 10:30pm.  WOW.  Blaine has been featured by TV and Print, as he had a spot on KVLY Valley News Live and The Jamestown Sun.   (See the links below).  Blaine is awesome and deserves every ounce of the attention he is getting.  I'd be proud of him e...

Cooking

I'm an amazing cook...when I have the time.   I learned from my mother at a very early age.  She used to let me help her cook dinner and bake.  I liked the cooking, but not the baking. There are four girls in the family.  My oldest sister and I were talking on New Years day that neither one of us like to bake.....that's for Peggy and Judy.  They're phenomenal at it.  Judy makes her own bread from scratch and has for years.  Peggy does awesome with candies and cookies and stuff like that. Me?  I'm good with all the good old fashioned dishes that include meat and potatoes.  You know the ones, cabbage rolls, Swiss steak, chicken and dumplings, creamed cabbage, mashed potatoes, green beans fried in bacon grease (REAL healthy food there!). I love to make this stuff but don't get a lot of time to do it during the week because I don't get home most nights until 8:00 0r 8:30. So this weekend I made: (not all in the same meal) beer b...

Familiar Face

I had a really good night at the gym tonight.  The best thing about it happened within moments of walking in to the gym.  I was in conversation with another patron (you know me, "social butterfly") when a face from the past comes up and taps me on the shoulder and says, "come see me when you're finished." It was Matt Eggl...the very FIRST manager of Anytime Fitness in Jamestown.  Of course I hightailed it in to the office and asked "what the heck are YOU doing here?"   "I'm the new owner.!"  Oh Hell Yeah!!!!     Welcome Back Matt!!!!!! One of the biggest concerns I've had lately is the high rate of turnover of both managers and trainers.  With Matt coming back and taking over, the manager issue is now addressed.  I expressed my concern to him about the need for UBF to get their head out of their asses and get more stable trainers.  I relayed to him that I am on my NINTH (9th) trainer in three years.  He to...

Opinions

Everyone has them, everyone is entitled to them. That being said, your right to your opinion does not  make your opinion Right, or you the ultimate authority on the subject. And when your opinion turns to judgment, that's when your true colors start shining through.  Your need to be superior at the expense of others makes you less of a person in others eyes...especially mine. So when you offer your opinion to me, I'll gladly listen and take in to consideration what you are saying.  BUT, when you start being an ass and act all superior and judgmental??   Your credibility just lost its worth with me.  Next time you want me to listen to you, think before you speak or watch me walk away.

Proud

I'm so proud of my nephew I can  hardly stand it!  I just spoke with my nephew Blaine.   He's getting really excited about this adventure he is going to be embarking on in 11 days now.  He told me that his training is going well; he's getting used to his new snow shoes. He will be going out every night this week for training.  He leaves on the 24th - which is next week Thursday.  I made a date with him one night this week or weekend so that I could spend a little time with my guy before he  leaves.  I love him soooo much and want nothing more than for him to come away from this Olympic experience with pride for all of his hard work and achievements Blaine, you're already a winner in my eyes and a Hero in my heart!  Love you Buddy!  .

I've Felt Better

I woke up feeling achy, breaky,  and chilled to the bone.  Thought some coffee would help me feel better but it's sitting heavy on the stomach.  I started out with one blanket and I've added a second and still can't keep warm. Of course, it is -8 outside right now.  I'm sure that doesn't help matters either. I don't feel bad, but don't feel all that great either.  Guess it's going to be a low key day.

Dancing Shoes

So last night JRCC had it's Christmas party.  Yes, I know...it's January, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.  It didn't dampen the mood though.  Everyone who attended (despite the snow storm) was in rare form. The theme was Casino night.  The tables were decked out in black and red, we had a spinning Wheel of (Mis)Fortune, the food was awesome and the DJ (thank you Tim) kept the place jumping well in to the night.  And, everyone had their dancing shoes on...including me!  I LOVE to dance, and seldom get the chances to do so.  So when I get the chance to kick up my heels, I do it.  We did dancing from everything to Journey, Cheryl Crow & Kidd Rock, Usher, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Garth Brooks....some people chose to do Karoke. I danced, and I danced, and I danced.  Sometimes with someone, sometimes alone, and a lot of times with a group.  It was fun!  One of the best Christmas parties I've gone too. I closed do...

Pickles

I'm addicted to them.  In the last three weeks, I've eaten four jars of Vlasic Kosher Dill Pickles all...by...myself!  (And NO! I'm NOT pregnant!).  lol I don't know why I've had such a craving for them lately, but I open up a jar and it's gone within a few days.  Something about the salt and the crunching and the smell of vinegar gets to me.  And, did you know that drinking pickle juice helps to alleviate leg cramps.  Me either!  But it does.  And they're perfect snacks for dieters.  One pickle spear is ZERO calories.  Duh!  A no brainer! So....yep, they're good for me.  Finally...a craving that is good for me!  Yay!

I got my mojo back!

And boy does it feel good! I hit the gym tonight with Trainer Jared.  He asked me how I was doing and if I was ready to get my sweat on.  He's still learning what I can do, my personality, preferences, strengths and weaknesses.  While I'm learning his particular style of training.  He's good.  Really good!  He takes the time to explain things, such as doing a hand turn at the top of a bicep curl will tweak or work a the inner-low portion of the bicep and give it more definition.  Who knew?! He's also learning I'm not a pansy! I did lower body tonight for the first time since August and It. Felt. Good!  The tell tale sign will be tomorrow when I get out of bed.   :)

Happy New Year

It's here.  The New Year - 2013.   It arrived on our doorsteps at midnight and settled in quite nicely as 2012 took its leave. How did I bring in the New Year?  Quietly, at home.  Thomas wasn't feeling well, so he hit the bed around 9pm to try and fight off whatever was affecting him - specifically his tummy.  I watched Dick Clark's Rockin New Years  Eve, opened up my bottle of Sweet Bitch wine  (yum!), found some cheese, crackers, chocolate and strawberries and had myself my own little party while playing on Facebook and listening to some kick ass music (with headphones on, of course).  Some would say it's a pathetic way to bring in the new year. Actually, I enjoyed myself.  I wasn't alone - I had my Facebook friends and family to keep me company.  I am not one to set resolutions but rather goals for myself.  I have a few in mind that - if you don't mind -  I'll keep to myself.  (Just like I did last year)....
