Frozen Tundra!
This is ridiculous! I’m a pretty patient person – I can withstand most anything and find the positive side. To be quite honest, I’m having a tough time keeping a positive outlook right now.
I’ve been staying at my sister Peggy’s house since Sunday morning. T went to the main farm on Sunday morning and immediately called back and said, “if you hope to go to work this week, you’d better pack a bag – I’ll be back to get you in 15 minutes so I can follow you in to town” – which he did. Good lord were the roads nasty!! In the short time that he had been gone and returned, the roads had drifted in – to the point that if he hadn’t been blazing a trail for me, I don’t think I’d have made it.
Peggy has been most wonderful! She has opened up her house to me and we’ve had so much fun! Monday & Tuesday a good friend of hers – Kathy - also stayed (her roads weren’t any better than mine!) and we had a regular slumber party. We ate, we drank, we talked, we didn’t get much sleep! (hahaha). It was good fun.
The only bad part, of course, is having to deal with the additional snowfall and the cold temperatures (-30 below this morning!). I got up at midnight, 2:00am, and 5:00am to start my truck. Bless the poor thing! It growled, it wheezed, but it started!
I’ve been taking Peggy to work this week. At least she hasn’t had to deal with trying to get out of her garage or ally. Her wonderful neighbors came through with the snow blower yesterday and cleaned out her walkways so at least we didn’t have to shovel.
Last night we picked Blaine up from work and brought him back to Peg’s for supper. What a man he is! He had me in stitches! The way he states things or his actions while speaking remind me so much of my father. Peggy and I just look at each other and smile. Dad would have been proud of his grandson.
T called and said that the roads are plowed and I can get home. He hasn’t been home since Sunday morning either. He was going to go home and clean out the yard. I’m sure it was a mess! Poor guy has been out in this crap every day trying to keep the cattle fed and watered, and the machinery running. I’m sure he’s tired, hungry, and longing for a long hot shower and warm bed. Though the main ranch has a house where he and Bill stay, it’s pretty slim pickins over there and doesn’t have the creature comforts of home. He already gave me a grocery list a mile long! (LOL)
I’m going to go home tonight I believe, unless the weather takes a turn or it’s drifting out in the country. As much as I love staying with Peggy and keeping her company, it will be good to be home in my own bed, with my husband, and my cat Boris!
I told Peggy – don’t change the bedclothes just yet though, never know when I’ll need to stay at the “Inn” again!
Until later,
Signing off from the Artic North!

I don't think I'll take him in to Peg's next time. He would be worse than a 2-yr old - I'd be afraid of him breaking things!
