Just Another Day

Today was packed with stuff.  Woke up super early (not by choice) and ended up staying up and getting a few household things done before I went to yoga.   Class was small today - only two people showed up.   That's alright; my mind wasn't totally in to it today.  I had a hard time concentrating and my leg (knee) was giving me issues during the poses.

I picked up my mother in law and took her grocery shopping and out to lunch.  She was in a fairly good mood today.

I dropped her off and went to my hair appt.  Eva is a godsend.  She not only got my hair style back in shape, she gave me an awesome manicure too.  Hey...to a woman, that's a big thing!  :)

Home to finish laundry and vacuum.

Tonight was supper at IDK then home to watch a movie.

Busy and boring....and just another day.

Really?

A spring winter storm is hitting this area.  It was supposed to hit last night but it delayed it's march through the region until today.  It just now hit where I live.   All the news forecasts (local and national) have Jamestown area slated for between 12 - 18 inches of snow.  Lovely.

So, what am I doing on this last (hopefully) winter storm?

I just finished unloading the dishwasher, putting in a load of laundry and folding another, and making a huge pot of vegetable/beef soup.  Yum!

I'm settling in for the day with hubster on the couch.  I'm actually happy for him.  You see, this time of year we would be calving out 400 head of cows.  In the past when these types of rain or snow storms would hit, he would be frantic with worry on "what am I going to do with the calves" or "I feel sorry for the animals."  ( We didn't have any barn space to house the cattle.)   He would be at the farm literally 24/7 keeping an eye on things.

But now that we don't have cattle any longer, he doesn't have to worry.  He's sitting on the couch looking outside at the weather.  In fact, he just said, "I feel sorry for those animals that are out in the open."

My goal today?  Nothing.  Blogging and reading a good book.  (I'm now down to 2 books in progress rather than 3).  :)

Freeom of Choice

I was watching Entertainment Tonight recently. They were featuring starlets in Hollywood who may have possibly had plastic surgery done.   They weren't necessarily criticizing them or condoning it, but drawing attention to it.  They were in a sense "calling out" a woman's choice.

North Dakota has just passed some of the nations toughest anti-abortion laws in the country, essentially taking away a woman's choice.

It's no secret that I'm independent and a liberal thinker. I follow no one political party.  I don't want anyone deciding for me what is best for me.   I believe in the right to have the freedom of choice, in all things, but especially what happens with my own body.

I will always listen to opinions and concerns. I will even ask you what you are thinking when I have a decision to make.  Ultimately it is my choice.

That choice extends to whether I color my hair five shades of red or shave my head, pierce my nose, belly button, get a tattoo redone or get 10 of them, exercise (or don't), teach yoga (or don't), diet (or don't), have an abortion (or don't), work (or don't), drink (or don't), have a medical procedure (or don't),...and the list goes on and on.

It's MY body, it's MY choice.  If I make a decision that angers you, I'm sorry.  Not for angering you, but that you don't have enough respect for me to trust that I'm making the best decision for me.  If you know me, you know I give thought to what I'm doing.  I

I respect the freedom choice...mine and yours.

Stuff

I'm writing tonight about nothing in particular.

I tried to figure out a specific topic, but my mind kept racing from topic to topic.  I was going to write about the dark side of human nature - always thinking the worst instead of the best...but thought it was too dark a subject.

Then I was going to write about the weather, but it's too depressing.  It's Spring - April 11th, and it's snowing outside with a winter storm warning.  Really?  This is doing absolutely nothing for my SAD (seasonal affective disorder!)

Working out.  I was going to write about my workout at the gym with my trainer.  I rocked it and was quite proud of the fact that we did pure strength tonight. He  increased my weights and my repetitions.   I probably won't be able to raise a coffee cup tomorrow morning.  But, since I always seem to write about my training at the gym, I thought you'd all get bored reading about it.

Music.  That's always a pretty safe topic.  Everyone loves music, right?  But then I couldn't narrow it down to what I want to write about.   I mean, I just finished watching a recorded episode of SMASH and I really loved the music on it.  I checked YouTube and I couldn't find the one I wanted, but I found this  instead.  Hedley - Kiss You Inside Out and Somebody Like You and

Dance.  It's no secret...I have happy feet when it comes to dancing.  When I was checking out YouTube for music, I found this.  When this plays at a dance, I just GOTTA get up and dance!
Cupid Shuffle

Not much else I can think of to write about right now, so guess it's my que to hang it up for the night.

Shoulds

Everyone has a list of "shoulds."  You know what they are.  Those are the things that we "should" be doing every day.  In a perfect world and if we had 32 hour days rather than 24 hours.

I was thinking about this on the elliptical this afternoon.  Why?  Well, as any true Virgo does, I was prioritizing my time after the gym with all the things that I needed to get done in order to prepare for Monday.  That led to "Oh, but I 'should'  do this too, which led to a whole bunch of shoulds.   I know!  I'm neurotic.

So, here is what I came up with of the "shoulds" that made it on to my daily list.

  1. Get 30 minutes of exercise day.
  2. Take vitamins.
  3. Take calcium (strong bones)
  4. Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day.
  5. Pack lunch for next day
  6. Stay away from carbs
  7. Focus on protein
  8. Make bed
  9. Wipe down shower and sink when I'm finished in the morning
  10. Put dirty towels/clothes in the laundry basket
  11. Rinse and put dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
  12. Run said dishwasher in the evening if needed.
  13. Call mother in law at some point during the day
  14. Make contact with my siblings.
  15. Make coffee and set timer for next morning
  16. Pack yoga bag or gym bag depending on the day
  17. Check in with bff's and see how they're doing.
  18. Keep phone charged
  19. Keep ipod charged
  20. Check bank balances
  21. Start worrying about supper around noon.
  22. Call hubster to take out meat once I figure out what we're having for supper.
  23. Log food intake in to MyfitnessPal.com
  24. Return voicemails and emails of inquiries about yoga.
  25. Come up with funny and witty Facebook status for personal, yoga, and Schulz family facebook pages.
  26. Come up with blog ideas this blog and yoga blog.
  27. Read a chapter from one of the 3 books I have in progress.

Pretty sure there are more that I "Should" have more "shoulds"  but I'm choosing to forget them cuz I'm already tired thinking of everything.   AND, I haven't put working an 8 or 9 hour day and finding time to sit down and relax.
