Things that make you go...????

I was standing in line to check out at Stop-N-Go yesterday.  A construction worker was standing off to the side.

I ask, “are you waiting in line?”

He says, “no I’m in no hurry.  Actually I’m looking at your sandals  Nice.  Nice toenail polish too!”

I say, “Thanks…. I’ve actually gotten a few compliments on them today” (which I had, from two different officers – male, I might add.)

He says, “yeah, you should’ve….they’re nice.   If you can get away with wearing strappies like that, go for it.”

Okayyyyy????  (chuckle) Never thought guys would notice shoes, let alone the color of my toe nail polish…  but oh well!  Kinda made my day, in a creepy kind of way!  (hahahaha)

Celebrate Sisterhood

This found its way in to my mailbox over the weekend.  I couldn’t agree more with the words, so thought I’d share it with all of you as well.  Perhaps you’ve seen it, perhaps not.  Either way, it’s a wonderful read and definitely so true.  We, as sisters, need each other each and every day.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*******~*~*~*~*~**~~~~~~~~*~*~*~*~**************~*~*~*~*~*************~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

A  young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.

" Don't forget your Sisters,' she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with  them.'

'Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women... your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women always do.'

What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought.  Haven't I just gotten married?    Haven't I just joined the couple-world?   I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!'

But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each  year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about.

As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life.

After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:

THIS SAYS IT ALL:

Time passes.

Life happens.

Distance separates.

Children grow up.

Jobs come and go.

Love waxes and wanes.

Men don't do what they're supposed to do.

Hearts break.

Parents die.

Colleagues forget favors.

Careers end..

BUT.........

Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you. A girl friend is never farther away than
 needing her can reach.

When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying  for you, pulling for you, intervening on your  behalf, and  waiting with open arms at the valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even  break the rules and walk beside  you...Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers,  Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended  family, all bless our life!

The  world  wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.

Something to remember...

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!

So what's up??

The sun!!  It’s absolutely beautfiul to see the sun so bright in the sky.  I’ll take this over snowy, cold, gloomy days anytime!  Those types of days are just around the corner (brrrr!).

I always have good intentions of posting on my blogs every night….but by the time I get home, eat supper, clear the table, do the dishes, and yada-yada-yada….I’m just plain exhausted!   (And NO!  I am NOT getting older!!)

So how the heck are you all doing??  Been feeling well?  Been starting to think about Christmas shopping?   Ya, I know!!  It’s not that far away, is it?!  It really hit home for me when I went in to a retail store and they were sporting Christmas decorations already.   For chrissakes, it wasn’t even Halloween yet?!

Oooooo…did you all get a lot of trick or treaters??!   We didn’t!  I bought a mountain of candy – why I don’t know…cuz we haven’t had little kids on Halloween for 10 years!  Guess I’m conditioned to keep the hubster’s sweet tooth happy!  Though I shouldn’t….he’s been seeing more of Dr. Braun (Dentist) than he should!

Recently had my family Oktoberfest!  What a blast!!  Though we were missing five family members this year, we still managed to have a lot of fun, drink a lot of beer and eat tons of good fun!  Already looking forward to next year.

I’m a little sad though.  I finished my training sessions with Mark … L  I was just getting him conditioned in to my peculiar sense of humor too!  ~L~  Now I have to clue my new trainer, PJ, to my quirky side.  (Mark says he’s already warned PJ.  Yeahhhhh right!) ~L~    We’ll find out tonight as I have my first session with him at 7pm.

With that, I’m gonna go take a nap cuz I think I’m gonna need it! (hahaha)

PS:  Here is a parting thought for you! Sometimes Too Much To Drink Is Still Not Enough J
